About the Program
Medicine Horse will offer a six week program that focuses on connection, relationship, and regulation that will support substance use and trauma recovery. Teens will have a chance to learn about their nervous systems, how they show up in relationships, and what needs and wants they have to feel safe and seen.
We will partner with our herd to connect with nature, self, and others in an organic process that is co-created with group members. We will have the chance to build positive experiences, support resilience, and highlight self-awareness. Teens will leave with memories and experiences that leave a deep and truly transformative impact!
Trauma is an emotional response that often is a result of living through a distressing event. Trauma can be acute (one time experience), chronic (repeated experience) or complex (multiple, chronic negative emotional experiences, likely beginning in childhood or in interpersonal relationships). Experiencing a traumatic event can harm a person's sense of safety, sense of self, and ability to regulate emotions and navigate relationships. This program is funded by grants and is offered at no cost to participants. Donations are always welcome and appreciated.
